The Tour

Welcome to the 1916 Freedom Tour.

'1916 Freedom Tour' is a unique experiential guided tour with supporting audio visual period footage of key locations of 1916 Dublin in our specially converted 1916 themed Truck.

The story of the conflict is told through the eyes of combatants fighting under the flags of both the Irish and British sides. The story also focuses on the ordinary citizens, workers in the streets of Dublin and business and how it affected them almost 100 years ago. Our aim is to educate and inform visitors from at home and abroad of these events and to enhance and elaborate on little known facts of that time for those familiar with the history while at the same time giving a truly enjoyable experience.

The tour is non political and non biased and is intended to give those on the hour long tour a real snapshot of what it was like to live during the bloody battles that were not only to shape the future of Dublin but the Irish Nation and beyond.

The tour starts and finishes from Merrion Square West, opposite the American College near the Oscar Wilde Statue, look out for the "1916 Freedom Tour Stop Sign" near to the Dublin Bus stop on the west side of the park at 10am, 12am, 2pm, and 4pm. Tours are running Wednesday to Sunday but expanding to 7 days in September.
Tours are one hour duration approximately.
